Coral Springs Charter athletics ramped up this week with four teams recording wins, a senior day for the soccer teams, and success in wrestling.
The boys soccer team beat Pompano Beach High School 2-1, honoring Brandon Moll, Jaxson Goldstein, Enrique, and Emanuel Matos before improving to 6-9-1 this year.
The girls soccer team won 4-1 to improve to 8-3-2 this year. They honored Maria Rojas, Tori Redesco, Abigail Foster, Marissa Micioni, and Katianna Grace before playing to a 0-0 draw on Thursday against NSU University.
Both soccer teams will be in action next week, with the boys playing South Plantation High School on Tuesday, January 14, at 6 p.m. and the girls playing West Boca Raton Community High School on Monday, January 13, at 4 p.m.
In basketball, the boys team began the year beating Monarch High School 43-42 before following up with a 56-45 victory against FAU High School. The Panthers lost 74-29 against Chaminade Madonna High School before beating Benjamin High School in their last game on Friday to move to 9-5
The girls team lost against Cypress Bay High School in their first games but followed up with three straight wins, defeating Calvary Christian Academy, Monarch, and Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory School to improve to 9-3.
Next, the boys team will play Goleman High School on Tuesday, January 14, at 7:30 p.m., while the girls will face West Boca Raton Community High School on Monday, January 13, at 6 p.m.
The wrestling team also went 1-1 this week in the District Duals, beating St. Andrews 42-36 and falling to Jupiter Christian 47-35. Despite not advancing in the duals, they traveled to New York for the River Hawk Round Robin Tournament and had Preston Lindsay take first. Andrew Ridge came in second, while Elijah Perez finished in fourth place. All three of these wrestlers took first in pool play.
“The team is progressing rapidly, and they are wrestling great.” Head Coach Eric Perez said. ” I anticipate that we will have several wrestlers qualify for the State Tournament.”
CSC will continue to ramp up before the start of the postseason, with their next tournament taking place at Coral Springs High School on January 22.
