The postseason is officially set to begin in volleyball, with four high schools from Coral Springs looking to make a run, while one team also competes on the sand.
J.P. Taravella closed the regular season with a matchup on Wednesday against Coral Glades. The Trojans secured their tenth win of the season, defeating their opponents 21-25, 25-21, 25-13, 25-13, and will head into the postseason as the third seed. JPT will have a bye in the opening round before facing Nova High School on Tuesday, April 27, at 6:30 p.m. The Titans are 10-3 this year, but lost one of their matches in five sets against the Trojans earlier in the season.
Coral Glades is seeded fifth after going 5-12 this year and will play South Plantation High School in the opening round on Monday, April 28, at 4:30 p.m. The Paladins won 9 matches this year, including one against the Jaguars. The winner of this match will play the top-seeded Western High School in the Semifinals.
Coral Springs High School went 9-7 during the regular season. They played in three matches this past week, and after losing to Nova and Marjory Stoneman Douglas in five sets, they beat Coconut Creek High School on Wednesday. The Colts are the top seed and will play the winner of Boynton Beach and Coconut Creek High School on Tuesday, April 29, at 6 p.m. Atlantic and Deerfield Beach High School will also face off on the other side of the bracket.
Coral Springs Charter had won four of their last five matches before losing to Pembroke Pines Charter in their final game. The Panthers went 7-15, having previously beaten Avant Garde Academy, Treasure Coast, Somerset Academy, Calvary Christian Academy, Don Soffer Aventura, and Northeast High School.
The Panthers are the fourth seed and will play Hallandale High School in the opening round on Monday, April 28, at 5 p.m. The Chargers went 3-8 this season, with the winner advancing to face the top-seeded Cardinal Gibbons High School. Pine Crest School and Calvary Christian Academy will each have byes before they face off.
Coral Springs High School also had a beach volleyball season, going 2-6, following a pair of wins over Boyd H. Anderson High School. The Colts also took a set off Monarch High School before losing in the District Tournament against St. Thomas Aquinas High School. CSHS was the eighth seed and also featured seniors Rebecca Assena, Sara Santibanez, Shanecia Mustafa, Kaylah Pinkey, and Kaylee Belliard.
