
Coral Glades Basketball. {Toro Hoops}
The Coral Glades boys basketball team began the summer competing in the Cardinal Gibbons Summer Camp and recording a pair of wins while several players committed.
The Jaguars beat the Charades 49-47 behind double figures from Gavin Reed, Kyler Theopile, and Donovan Swain. Reed scored 12 while also having four assists, three rebounds, and one steal. Theopile had four steals with three assists, and Swain scored two and had seven rebounds.
Coral Glades also beat Pine Crest School 59-56, with Swain leading the way with 19 points and five rebounds. Theopile shined again with 15 points and six rebounds, while Ethan Jean Luis scored 10 and also had six rebounds.
The Jaguars’ lone loss came against Cardinal Gibbons High School, 82-49. Ali Atallah was the leading scorer with 12 points, while Jamri Bolden and Reed each scored 10.
Coral Glades is coming off a historic season in which it won a second District Championship in the last three years and earned its first-ever win in Regionals. The Jaguars also won 20 games for the first time in school history and had only three players graduate this spring. Coral Glades is now competing in the Calvary Christian Summer League and will later play in the FABC Team Camp and GBCA Championship.
Bryan Jean and Andres Demoya will play at Coahuila Community College in New York for their commitments. Jean averaged 6.6 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, while Demoya finished the season in double figures in scoring and also had five rebounds. Anthony Valdes will play at Webster University in Missouri and scored nine points per game, including 19 against Northeast High School.
The Jaguars also had two alumni officially commit, with Dominic Smith set to play at Sauk Valley Community College in Illinois. He was a 2023 graduate and played in all 28 games his senior year, finishing third on the team with 7.8 points per game. He also averaged 1.3 steals per game as the team went 18-10 and won the first District Championship in school history.
Dylan Burrowes graduated from Coral Glades in 2024 and will play at Santa Fe College. As a senior, he averaged nearly a double-double with 8.8 points and 11.8 rebounds per game, and the team won 14 games. Tahir Bond, who also played with Burrowes, wrapped up his freshman season with Calhoun Community College in Alabama, averaging 9.1 points per game after leading the Jaguars in scoring as a senior.
