
Coral Springs High School Wrestling Team Wins City Championship. {David Volz}
The postseason is officially underway while several schools from Coral Springs compete against each other, including the City Championship in wrestling.
On Wednesday night, the Coral Springs High School wrestling team took first place in the Coral Springs Cup while honoring their seniors. The Colts beat Coral Springs Charter and J.P. Taravella. At the same time, Shai Keery, Dylan McKeon, Collin Reynolds, Alex Hailey, Jaylon Brown, J’vier Romeus, and Sebastian Mendoza all won a pair of matches for the Colts. CSHS then finished in second place at the Bulldog Invitational, going 5-1, while the girl’s team finished in third in another tournament.
J.P. Taravella lost to the Colts but recorded a 42-36 win against Coral Springs Charter. The Panthers, though, had Elijah Perez, Andrew Ridge, and Blake Eden finish 2-0 before Perez went on to win his 100th career match on Saturday at South Broward High School.
On Thursday, the Coral Glades boys basketball team picked up a big 73-64 win over Coral Springs High School. The Jaguars will play in the Big-8 Tournament for the first time in school history and play Pembroke Pines Charter in the opening round on Thursday, January 30 at 8:30 p.m. PPC went 13-5 this year and beat the Jaguars 62-61 in their only meeting on December 9. Coral Springs High School will get set to host a senior night on Monday, January 27, against Fort Lauderdale High School at 7:30 p.m.

Coral Glades Boys Basketball Team. {Athletics}
The Coral Springs High School girls basketball team beat Coral Glades 70-24 and improved to 12-7 this year. They will also host Senior Night against Fort Lauderdale High School on Monday, January 27, at 6 p.m., while the Jaguars finished the regular season at 3-11.
In soccer, the Coral Glades boys soccer team fell in the Regional Semifinals against Boca Raton Community High School. The Jaguars had a bye in the opening round but went to compete in penalty kicks after the game was tied at two after a pair of overtimes. The Bobcats, though, won 6-5 to advance to the final, where they will play top-seeded Marjory Stoneman Douglas in the final on Monday, January 27 at 5 p.m
The Coral Glades girls soccer team lost 4-3 against Western High School in the District Quarterfinals but were knocked out against Marjory Stoneman Douglas in the semifinals. The Jaguars went on to finish the season 6-8-3.
The Coral Springs High School boys soccer team lost 2-0 against Monarch High School and finished the season 9-6-2. The Coral Springs High School girl’s soccer team beat Deerfield Beach High School 1-0 and will play Piper High School in the final on Tuesday, January 28, at 7 p.m.
The Coral Springs Charter boys soccer lost 3-0 against Calvary Christian Academy and ended the year with six wins, while the Coral Springs Charter girls soccer team was seeded third and beat Franklin Academy to set up a matchup against Cardinal Gibbons High School in the District Semifinals. Kickoff for this game is set for Monday, January 27, at 5 p.m. as the Chiefs are 8-5-2 this year.
The J.P. Taravella boys soccer team lost to Boca Ration Community High School 1-0 in the opening round and finished their season 3-9. Their wins came against McArthur, Nova, and Coral Springs High School, while the J.P. Taravella girls soccer team also lost to Boca Raton 8-0 to finish the year 7-7.
