The regular season in lacrosse wrapped up this week, highlighted by senior night celebrations across several programs in Coral Springs.
The Coral Glades boys team also celebrated senior night earlier this month, recognizing Nichols Insua, Aiden Golfin, Ethan Gross, Zaffer Sharifeh, Luca Toni-Black, Rafael Hanna, and Mauricio Leja. The girls’ team honored Taylor Evans, Dariana Araya, Valerie Ramos, Genesis Garcia, Allura Buelvas, Emily Orenstein, and Nissie Cadette.
The Jaguars have found success this season, including a pair of wins over Coral Springs High School, outscoring the Colts 19-7 in those matchups. They also recorded a 14-3 victory over South Plantation High School. Mauricio Leja leads the team with 12 goals, while Nichols Insua has eight. Zaffer Sharifeh and Franchini each added five goals.
On the girls’ side, Coral Glades finished the regular season with a 6-5 record despite dropping its final three games. Earlier in the year, they earned wins over Cooper City, West Boca Raton, South Plantation, Seminole Ridge, Pompano Beach, and West Broward High School.
Allura Buelvas, a Kennesaw State University commit, led the team with 40 goals this season. Anne Butterfield added 18, while Miranda Infante and Gianna Gonzalez each scored 14. Taylor Evans contributed 12 goals. Daniella Concepcion and Stefani Varela helped facilitate the offense with key assists, while Nissie Cadette anchored the defense with 45 saves in goal.
The boys’ team at Coral Springs High School honored a large senior class, including Tyler King, Isa Ahmed, Colt Chambers, Cameron Wagner, Anthony Bedoya, Sebastian Aguirre, Cooper Waldman, Noah Jiron, Khristian Toledo, Uriel Solis, Vincent Hanlon, Matt Jean Baptiste, Thong Pham, Erick Jimenez, Ivan Becker, and Leonard Yeargin.
The Colts enter the postseason with a 2-7 record following a loss to Cooper City High School. Their two wins this season came in an 11-10 thriller against South Plantation High School and a 6-4 victory over Dillard High School.
Offensively, Khristian Toledo and Matt Jean Baptiste led the team in goals this season. Tyler King, Colt Chambers, and Hernandez combined for 100 contributions, while Cooper Waldman and Noah Jiron each added a goal.
