The Coral Springs Rotary Club will welcome Tamika LeCheé Morales, founder and president of the Autism Hero Project, as the featured speaker during its meeting on Thursday, July 16.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in a private room at La Pizzeria, 5632 W. Sample Road in Margate.
Morales will discuss autism spectrum disorder and the importance of fostering greater understanding, acceptance, and inclusion for individuals on the spectrum.
During the presentation, Morales is expected to explain common characteristics of autism, including differences in social communication and interaction, as well as repetitive behaviors, focused interests, and a preference for routines. She will also highlight the strengths often associated with autism, including strong attention to detail, unique problem-solving abilities, and innovative ways of thinking.
The Autism Hero Project promotes awareness through education and advocacy, emphasizing that increased understanding leads to acceptance and creates more inclusive opportunities for individuals with autism.
The Rotary Club meeting is open to members and guests interested in learning more about autism awareness and the Autism Hero Project’s work. Those planning to attend are encouraged to arrive before the 6 p.m. start time.
