
Coral Springs Charter takes on J.P. Taravella. {Matt Rothman}
The high school football season in Coral Springs featured a rivalry matchup this week between Coral Springs Charter and J.P. Taravella, while Parkridge Christian, Coral Glades and Coral Springs High School were also in action.
Coral Springs Charter got the week started Thursday with a 27-12 win over J.P. Taravella in its homecoming game. The Panthers led from the start, with Caden Patel scoring a rushing touchdown. He also shined defensively, leading the team in tackles, while Stone Rolle added two rushing touchdowns to give CSC a 19-0 halftime lead.
Noah See added a fourth touchdown for the Panthers before the Trojans found the end zone twice on touchdown passes from Dylan Peterson. He connected with Christopher O’Gilvie for the first score before tossing a touchdown pass to Jeremiah Israel late in the fourth quarter.
JPT fell to 1-5 and will play Forest Hill High School next Friday, October 9, at 6:30 p.m. The Falcons enter the matchup with a 3-3 record.
CSC picked up its second win of the season and will play Tradition Prep on Friday, October 9, at 7 p.m. The Pirates are 1-6 this year, with their lone win coming against Palm Beach Christian Prep.
Coral Glades was on the road and allowed the game-winning touchdown with 20 seconds remaining in a 12-10 loss to South Plantation High School.
The game was scoreless in the first half before James Giffis made a 43-yard field goal to give the Jaguars a 3-0 lead. Coral Glades allowed its first touchdown with 5:47 remaining but answered to take a four-point lead with 1:11 left.
However, South Plantation responded with a pair of short completions, a pass interference penalty, and a long run before scoring the game-winning touchdown.
The Jaguars are 2-4 and will have a week off before facing Boca Raton Christian High School on Friday, October 16, at 6:30 p.m. The Bobcats are 2-5 following wins over Boynton Beach and Olympic Heights High School.
Coral Springs High School is still searching for its first win following a 49-0 loss against Cooper City High School. The Colts forfeited their first two games and have now dropped their next four heading into a matchup with Hollywood Hills High School on Friday, October 9, at 7 p.m. The Spartans are 1-5 this year, with their lone win coming against Pompano Beach High School.
Parkridge Christian High School lost a heartbreaker, 40-38, against Northeast High School in five overtimes on Friday night. The Titans are now 2-5 in their first season of varsity football and will play Glades Day next Thursday, October 8, at 6 p.m. The Gators enter the matchup with a 2-6 record.
