The Florida Department of Education has released results for the Spring 2025 statewide assessments, showing that Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) students continue to outperform the state in the majority of tested areas.
According to a statement from BCPS, the assessments included the Florida Assessment for Student Thinking (FAST) in English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics, as well as science exams for grades 5 and 8, and cumulative End-of-Course (EOC) exam results for Algebra, Geometry, Biology, Civics, and U.S. History.
BCPS students outscored the state in all grade levels for ELA, grades 3 through 7 in mathematics, Grade 5 in science, and in every EOC subject. The district also outperformed Florida’s four other largest school districts—Hillsborough, Miami-Dade, Orange, and Palm Beach counties—in most tested areas.
“We’re incredibly proud of these results—they show that the strategies we’ve put in place over the past two years are truly making a difference for our students,” said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn. “This progress is thanks to the hard work of our amazing teachers, support staff, school leaders and administrators, along with our School Board and entire community. Together, we’re making sure our students receive the world-class education they deserve.”
The FAST assessments are administered three times per year, with the spring assessment (PM3) serving as the final progress monitoring tool. Since the 2022–23 school year, cumulative year-end results have shown consistent growth in student performance across all tested subjects.
Below are the cumulative year-end percentages of BCPS students meeting or exceeding grade-level performance:
- ELA Grades 3–10 (PM3): Increased from 51% in 2022–23 to 61% in 2024–25 (+10)
- Mathematics Grades 3–8 and EOC Exams: Increased from 51% to 62% (+11)
- Algebra 1 EOC: Increased from 48% to 62% (+14)
- Geometry EOC: Increased from 44% to 60% (+16)
- Science Grade 5: Increased from 46% to 57% (+11)
- Science Grade 8 and Biology 1 EOC: Increased from 47% to 57% (+10)

- Civics EOC: Increased from 64% to 72% (+8)
- U.S. History EOC: Increased from 61% to 75% (+14)
