“A premier place to live, work, and raise a family” is a major goal that City Manager Catherine Givens and the city administration have set for Coral Springs.
She highlighted some of the city’s recent accomplishments and upcoming goals during the Coral Springs Coconut Creek Regional Chamber of Commerce Wakeup Breakfast on January 13.
Essential objectives include promoting the business community, ensuring government accessibility to residents, encouraging unity, and providing high-quality public safety.
The city has installed about 25 miles of fiber optic infrastructure, so homes and businesses have access to faster internet and improved communication. The city is also seeking ways to learn about artificial intelligence and use it to improve customer service, according to Givens.
A critical goal is to remove barriers between the government, residents, and local businesses. Givens said that town hall community forums have taken place, and she encourages face-to-face meetings to build trust. Vision surveys have been conducted to gather residents’ input on what they want the city’s future to be.
Quality of life and aesthetics are important, she said. Efforts are continually made to ensure that streets and sidewalks are maintained and that the city remains clean. Givens said she wants residents to be proud to live in Coral Springs.
She stressed the importance of public safety and discussed the $500,000 state grant the city received to enhance the Real Time Crime Center. The Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department received a $2.4 million federal Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant to hire more first responders, according to Givens.
She thanked city staff for their hard work and the community for supporting her as city manager. After her presentation, the chamber’s Board of Directors was installed.
