From the Coral Springs City Commission:
Just like the South Florida sun, May is already heating up with special events and community happenings as we gear up for summer.
We have truly enjoyed coming together once again for in-person events and community gatherings this spring. Interacting with residents is not something that we take for granted, especially after the challenges of the past two years. We look forward to welcoming our community for more in-person events in the months to come.
This month, the Coral Springs Multi-Cultural Committee will host a National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 5. Participants of all faiths are invited to join this candlelight ceremony.
Many of our young residents have been sharpening their chess skills to take part in the Mayor’s Chess Challenge on Saturday, May 7. This free event is open to all ages and skill levels. Additionally, the King of Chess Tournament will take place on Saturday, May 21 Participants must register in advance. Visit CoralSprings.org/events for more details.
In partnership with the Veterans Coalition of Coral Springs, the city will host a Memorial Day Ceremony on May 30 to honor our military’s brave men and women who have given their lives in service to our nation. The event will take place at Veterans Park (8601 Royal Palm Boulevard) at 9 a.m.
Kamp Kool kicks off on Monday, June 13, for kids entering grades 1 through 8. The camp includes fun and engaging activities such as science experiments, arts and crafts, swimming, field trips, and a popular team competition known as “Color Wars.” Visit coralsprings.org/camps for more information.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. As we enter the spring and summer months, we remind our community that mental health resources exist to help tackle whatever challenges life may bring. Dial 2-1-1 Broward or text 898211 to be connected with help. We will be sharing how we prioritize our mental health throughout May on social media.
Stay tuned; we will announce the winners of our Business Excellence Awards just ahead of Economic Development Week, which takes place from May 9-13. Visit CoralSprings.org/bea to view the complete list of winners.
