From the Coral Springs City Commission:
Mayor Scott Brook (Seat 1), Commissioner Nancy Metayer Bowen (Seat 3), and Commissioner Joe McHugh (Seat 5) took their oaths of office during a Swearing Ceremony held on November 19.
Mayor Brook and Commissioner Metayer Bowen were re-elected without opposition, and Commissioner McHugh replaced Commissioner Joy Carter who recently completed ten years of service.
McHugh retired from his position as Captain with Coral Springs Police Department (CSPD) after nearly 28 years to serve as a Coral Springs Commissioner. We congratulate Joe on his retirement from law enforcement and wish him great success in his new role as an elected official representing the City of Coral Springs.
From twinkling lights to festive gatherings, the holiday happenings in Coral Springs this December promise a flurry of opportunities for residents to make magical memories.
Downtown Coral Springs will serve as a hub for holiday happenings throughout December with the Downtown in December three-part event series.
Kicking things off, residents can celebrate the official start of the season at Light up the Lawn on Saturday, December 7, from 5 to 8 p.m. at City Hall (9500 W Sample Road).
Join us as we light the City Hall tree and unveil festive light displays, which families can enjoy all month for photos and fun. The holiday display will be lit throughout the month of December for residents to enjoy.
The Annual Holiday Parade will bring the magic of the holidays to downtown on Wednesday, December 11, along Sample Road from 7 to 9 p.m.
This year’s theme, Magical Memories: A Ride Down Memory Lane, celebrates the spirit of holidays past and present with one-of-a-kind floats created by local organizations. Spectators are welcome and residents should expect traffic delays in the area.
On Saturday, December 14, from 5 to 8 p.m., the community is invited to shop local and support small businesses at the downtown Holiday Market, also at City Hall. Discover a variety of local vendors offering unique holiday gifts to complete your shopping list. For all event details, visit CoralSprings.gov/events.
There is no trash, bulk, or recycling collection on Christmas Day. Residents whose regular pickup day is Wednesday will have items picked up on their next scheduled day. Learn more eco-conscious practices by visiting, CoralSprings.gov/HolidayWaste
