A Coral Springs man is accused of sexually assaulting a teen he met on Snapchat before being arrested in an undercover police sting, according to Broward County court records.
According to a Pembroke Pines Police Department arrest report, Nicholas Rojas, 23, faces charges of sexual battery on a minor, two counts of traveling to meet a child after using a computer to lure a child, and causing a child to become delinquent.
According to investigators, the victim told police that Rojas first contacted her several months earlier through Snapchat. She said he initially claimed to be 20 years old before later admitting he was 23. The teen told detectives she informed him she was just 14.
Court records state that Rojas arranged to meet the child in March after planning for the girl to sneak out of her Pembroke Pines home in the middle of the night. Rojas allegedly traveled to meet her, then brought her back to his Coral Springs residence.
The girl later told investigators that Rojas sexually assaulted her at the home despite her repeatedly telling him to stop and attempting to push him away.
Authorities allege the communication continued in the months that followed. After the girl told Rojas she could report him to the police, investigators say he brought her five vape devices and two BeatBox alcoholic beverages, despite knowing she was underage.
The teen eventually reported the alleged abuse to Pembroke Pines Police, where detectives conducted a forensic interview before taking control of her Snapchat account as part of the investigation.
Posing as the victim, a detective continued to communicate with Rojas and arranged to meet him at the Wawa at 1600 South Hiatus Road.
Investigators said Rojas made it clear during the messages that he intended to meet the girl for sex. When he arrived at the agreed-upon location on June 14, officers arrested him.
Rojas was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
