Coral Springs is inviting residents to help name five animal characters in a new Pride Promoters Park sculpture as part of a proposed park enhancement project.
As part of a broader enhancement project set to go before the City Commission on May 21, the city is inviting the public to help name five animal characters featured in a new interactive sculpture titled “Wild Connections.”
The artwork, created by internationally recognized artists Gillie and Marc, will depict five native Florida animals seated together on a bench, each with its own personality and theme.
The naming contest is designed to boost community engagement and give residents a direct role in shaping one of the park’s newest features.
Residents will be able to choose between Scooter, Waddles, or Flash for a turtle holding a camera.
For the rabbit playing a flute, the options include Hopscotch, Floppy, or Harmony.
The panther holding an ice cream can be named Peter, Stanley, or Scoops.
For the hawk reading a book, residents can vote for Aristotle, Maverick, or Socrates.
The alligator holding an ice cream will be named either Allie Gator, Marshy, or Scales.

The naming initiative is part of a larger plan to revitalize Pride Promoters Park, which was originally built in the early 1990s. The proposed upgrades include a modern, inclusive playground, improvements to the basketball court, and the addition of outdoor fitness equipment to encourage active lifestyles for residents of all ages.
The full enhancement project is estimated to cost approximately $345,000, with $225,000 expected to be funded through the federal Community Development Block Grant program. The public art installation would be funded separately through the city’s Public Art Fund.
While the Commission will ultimately decide whether to approve the project, the naming contest offers residents an early opportunity to get involved and shape a piece of the park’s future identity.
If approved, project timelines will be announced at a later date. Residents can follow updates and participate in the naming process through the city’s website.
