Coral Springs Charter Tennis Teams Top Colts, Shine Mid-Season with Strong Performances

The Coral Springs Charter boys’ and girls’ tennis teams are performing well mid-season, defeating Coral Springs High School overall on March 24.
Santiago Garcia-Castillo has been leading the boys’ team, posting a 10-1 record. PJ McGinnis and Marcelo Smashey have also been playing well, according to coach Melissa Shank.
“I have a passion for playing tennis, and I want to lead the team to a winning season,” said Garcia-Castillo.
Brooke Clark is the top player on the girls’ team. “I love tennis, and we have a good girls’ team,” said Clark.

The Coral Springs High tennis team is led by Joseph Mullins, who is undefeated in singles competition, and Justin Beauregard, who is also having a strong season. Mullins credits the team’s success to dedication and practice, saying, “It takes dedication and practice to be a good tennis player.”
Sophia Rodriguez and Zara Villa are leading players on the girls’ team, with Sophia leading overall and Zara recently winning a hard-fought match against Charter.
Assistant coach Leah Testa said the Colts are doing well and have earned victories against Deerfield Beach and Western.
