Rapper Kodak Black, who put down roots in Coral Springs, was booked into the Orange County Jail this week after authorities issued an arrest warrant charging him with trafficking in MDMA.
According to arrest records, Kodak Black, legally known as Bill Kapri, 28, faces one count of trafficking in MDMA between 10 and 200 grams, a first-degree felony. The case stems from a November 24, 2025, incident in Orlando, where police were responding to reports of gunfire near the Children’s Safety Village.
Kapri, a Pompano Beach native, became a Coral Springs resident after purchasing a 6,506-square-foot home in the city for $1.8 million in February 2022.
According to an affidavit filed by the Orlando Police Department, officers responding to the November incident discovered Kapri near a green Lamborghini SUV. Inside the vehicle, investigators reportedly found a pink bag containing 25.34 grams of MDMA and $37,000 in cash. A deputy also noticed a white substance on a $100 bill and that the vehicle smelled of cannabis.
Police said Kapri denied ownership of the bag. However, investigators alleged the bag was linked to him through several personal items found inside, including his prison identification card and documents bearing his name.
The affidavit also said digital evidence from Kapri’s social media accounts played a role in the investigation. Investigators alleged that the pink bag, a pair of scissors found near the narcotics, and a distinct lighter found in the vehicle matched items seen in recent posts on Kapri’s Instagram accounts.
Officer Sean Murphy, the affiant in the case, wrote that although Kapri refused to claim the bag, he “attempted multiple times to have the money turned over to him, claiming it belonged to his business.”
Kapri turned himself in on Wednesday and was booked into the Orange County Jail. He later pleaded not guilty and requested a jury trial.
Kapri was released after posting a $75,000 bond.
