A new art studio for children has come to Coral Springs.
Families and community leaders got together on September 3 to celebrate the opening of artNEST with a ribbon-cutting held by the Coral Springs Coconut Creek Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Commissioner Joe McHugh welcomed artNEST to the community and stated that a place for children to learn art would be beneficial for the city.
artNEST will be more than a place for children to learn to paint and draw. “The children create art, but they will also develop self-confidence and learn how to get along,” said Stephanie Pitts, co-owner.
The approach artNEST uses is process-based, and the children are encouraged to be independent and creative. They will be encouraged to paint and draw what they want. There is even a splash room where children can paint the walls and themselves, according to Pitts.
During the celebration, children were encouraged to paint the walls and have a good time. They also sat at desks and created paintings.
The class sizes are limited so that each student receives individual attention. The classes are age-appropriate, ranging from the very young to preteens.
A variety of art classes are available, including painting, drawing, collaging, clay, sketch clubs, comics, fashion, and more. The focus is on the process that brings out the most creative version of everyone who comes to the studio, according to Jeanine Athias, an owner.
artNEXT is located at 8218 Wiles Road. Business hours vary, but are generally from 10 a.m. to 5 or 6 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. On Mondays, the studio can be available for special programs.
