After one of the most dominating careers for any Broward County golfer in the past decade, 2020 Coral Glades graduate Kayla Holden has been spectacular to start college at the University of Tennessee.
In only her second year of college golf, Holden has quickly blossomed into a star.
“I have worked really hard on my own game and all the tournaments we have played in this past season,” said Holden. “With Covid and all the restrictions, it allowed our team to spend a lot of time together and just get better.”
Holden has ten rounds of par or better in college and had her best result in the Gator Invitational. She finished in a tie for sixth place and birdied eight holes in the tournament.
After being named SEC Freshman of the Week, Holden competed in the NCAA Regionals before playing in four tournaments so far as a sophomore. She has also competed in a pair of USGA Amateur events.

This all comes after Holden won three consecutive Broward County Athletic Association Championships, four District Championships, and three Regionals wins.
“Playing high school golf was an awesome experience,” Holden added. “Being the only girl on the team was a unique situation, but it allowed me to put myself in a little more pressure situations and play against the boys.”
Holden also comes from a family of golfers. Her father, Russ, was a coach and caddy for two-time Masters Champion Bernhard Langer. He also runs Caddy For A Cure on the PGA TOUR, allowing people to caddy for a professional golfer while benefiting the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund and Birdies for the Brave.
Next, Holden will participate in Texas at the Icon Invitational on February 21-22. She later returns to Florida to compete in the Gator Invitational again in March as she looks to make a long run in the NCAA Tournament.
