State Representative Christine Hunschofsky has announced the new date for a Town Hall event to raise awareness about mental health.
Postponed due to Hurricane Milton, the Mental Health Town Hall will now be held on Wednesday, October 23, at 7 p.m. in Coconut Creek City Hall, 4800 W Copans Rd, Coconut Creek, FL 33063.
This town hall will focus on the mental health of teens and young adults. Attendees can hear about stress management and mental health resources available to them. Dr. Scott Poland, a psychology professor at Nova Southeastern University, will give a special presentation. Teens, parents, and anyone dealing with young adults are encouraged to attend.
“According to the World Health Organization, 1 in 7 teens will experience a mental disorder. Many teens face these challenges without knowing where to turn for help. This Town Hall aims to provide resources and open up the conversation so that we can better support our youth,” said Hunschofsky.
Hunschofsky, an advocate for mental health awareness, believes that discussing the topic openly and learning about available resources is paramount in addressing the mental health crisis affecting countless individuals and families.
