J.P. Taravella closed out a strong sports season with their top student-athletes receiving All-Conference awards.
J.C. Martinez, a North Florida signee, had a dominant senior season, hitting .461 with seven home runs and 35 RBIs. Martinez had a 1.354 OPS as the team won 17 games and reached the Regional Semifinals before losing two straight to Marjory Stoneman Douglas.
Mikael Ghann, Sebastian Mayfield, Tyler Morgan, and Anthony Tizol were all Honorable Mentions from the baseball team. Ghann hit two. 275 with two home runs, two doubles, and nine RBIs. On the mound, he went 5-1 and pitched to an ERA of 2.58. Mayfield and Morgan each hit well over .300 and combined for four home runs and 44 RBIs. Tizol hit four home runs and won three games on the mound with a 3.06 ERA.
Olivia Noel, Raquel Arne, Samira Belizaire, and Caileen Canales were named to the Second Team in the 4×800 relay in track and field. They placed 11th at the State Championship, having won the District Championship and finished sixth at the Regionals.
Akeem Beckford, Scardy Fils, JahRee Pierre, and Elijah Vessells also earned the award for the boys’ 4×800 after winning a District Championship and placing fifth at Regionals.
Patricia Costa was selected for the second team and shone in the 100-meter hurdles, improving six spots from Districts to Regionals.
Ben Joseph and Akeil Kidd were named Honorable Mentions for the boys, and Raquel Ame, U’Myri Bain, Samira Belizaire, and Olivia Noel were recognized for the girls. The flag football team had Sadie Prince named an Honorable Mention, and she helped the team win four games.
