With high school sports wrapping up, dozens of players from Coral Springs participated in the BCAA All-Star Game.
Coral Springs High School
Ruben Zuany, Shaquille Sala, and Angel Ruguian were all selected from the Coral Springs baseball team. Zuany led the team with a .429 average and also had a home run, 10 doubles, four triples, and 22 RBIs. Sala hit .246 with nine doubles and drove in 14 runs.
He recently signed to play college baseball at Dominican College, Ruguian, went 4-1, had a save in 18 appearances on the mound, and will play at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Jaylen Samuels was picked from the girls’ flag football team after the Lady Colts finished the year with one win, coming against Coconut Creek High School.
The boy’s volleyball team won a District Championship and had their coaches, Frank Bumbales and Rayanna Richard, chosen, along with Joel Joni, Mickinapn Jean Mary, and Fabrico Monaco competing. Jobi finished the year with 303 kills and 30 aces, helping the Colts win 11 matches. Jean Mary led the team with 530 assists and 64 blocks and was second with 103 kills.
Coral Glades
The Coral Glades baseball team had Brayton Hoskins and Asa Lindo compete following a strong season. They went 14-6 before losing to the eventual State Champions, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, in the District Tournament.
Hopkins hit .280 with three doubles, one triple, and 14 RBIs, while Lindo shined on the mound, pitching to an ERA of 2.15 and recording a win in 12 appearances.
Anjali Beepat, Alonna Harrison, and Angelina Thomason were all selected from the flag football team, which had a historic year. The Lady Jaguars lost their first game but went on to win their next 13 games, all by shutout, before falling in the playoffs against Monarch High School.
Coral Springs Charter
The Coral Springs Charter baseball team had Mason Alexander and Julien Spinola selected. They went 10-13 this year. The Panthers defeated Glades Central High School in their first playoff game but lost 5-1 against American Heritage. Alexander, though, led the team with a .378 batting average and homered twice while driving in 13 runs. He will play college baseball next year at Palm Beach State College. Spinola will play in college at Eastern University after hitting a home run and driving in six runs. He was also named MVP after going 2-2 with a pair of RBIs in the game.
Mia Rodriguez was selected from the softball team after they made a run to the Regional Final. She is signed with Barry University and had five extra bases and 14 RBIs as the team went 23-4, including a BCAA and District Championship. Murcillo Boeta and Michael Chin were picked from the boys’ volleyball team after their season, which went 8-16. Boeta finished the season as the leader in kills, while Chin led the team in blocks. Kayley Partian, Arianna Irizarry, and Jayde Riley were all chosen from the girls’ flag football team, which went 6-5 this past season.
J.P. Taravella
Tyler Morgan, J.C. Martinez, and Anthony Tizol were all selected from the baseball team at J.P. Taravella. These three players combined to hit 12 of the Trojans’ 14 home runs this year. At the same time, Morgan is committed to La Salle University, and Martinez is going to the University of North Florida.
Sadie Prince, Jazmyn Dunn, and Jordan Jones were representatives from the girls flag football team following a four-win season, and Mike Tavarez is from the boys volleyball team that went 10-6 this year.
