I have written so many reviews about Laspada’s and every time I go, they’re still excellent. On top of that, I’ve been eating here since I was at Northeast High School in the 80’s. The same dude who worked at the original one in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea now manages the one in Coral Springs.
Manager Mike Simmons has been with Laspada’s for 28 years. He was originally with them for 11 years at their first location, and opened their Coral Springs restaurant back in 1997. You’ll most likely run into Mike because he’s there six days a week along with several of his seven employees.
Mike told us “If you’ve never tried Laspada’s for the first time you’ll be spoiled, and you’ll never want to eat anywhere else.”
I have often asked myself why is Laspada’s so damn good.
Is it:
A. The way they construct each hoagie by placing oil and vinegar on the bread first
B. The meat they serve that’s sliced fresh for each order
C. The fresh bread delivered daily from a private baker
D. The fresh vegetables they prepare daily
E. The layer of meat they place on top of the sandwich after they make it
F. Their great staff
The answer is: all the above.
My favorite is a large turkey sub on wheat with provolone cheese, oil and vinegar, onions, tomatoes, hot peppers, oregano, and pepper. This is a beast of a sandwich, and come to think of it, all of their sandwiches are beasts.
Occasionally, I’ll get their tuna fish sub which is pretty solid. I really don’t like mayo, but they make it pretty dry and I like that.
At the Coral Springs location they have had the same staff for years, with a few new faces here and there. Its great to watch them interact with each other, throw meat around, all while listening to heavy metal or alternative music. When its real busy, it’s like watching this rock symphony play out with the workers creating true magic.
My only critique is that they need to remodel the joint, and the queuing system is a little messed up. If you have ever stood in the long lines here, you’ll know what I mean.
I paid true homage to Laspada’s when I bought one of their t-shirts. I’ve been proudly wearing it around town and a couple of people have even asked me if I worked there. My answer is no, but a guy can dream right?
I love you Laspada’s!
Four overflowing beers for you, my dear friend. If you go, remember to tell them Dan and Coral Springs Talk sent you and Stay Hungry!
