Make Our Schools Safe Hosts ‘Leader in Me’ Club Training at Eagles Haven

Make Our Schools Safe (MOSS), a national nonprofit dedicated to protecting students and preventing school violence, hosted a “Leader in Me” MOSS Club Training on Saturday, Oct. 4, at Eagles Haven Wellness Center in Coral Springs.
The daylong program brought together student leaders, advisors, and advocates for workshops focused on leadership, resilience, and action. Using the “Leader in Me” framework, students built communication skills, practiced mindfulness, and learned strategies for conflict resolution and peer-led school safety initiatives.
Attendees also participated in activities promoting kindness, inclusion, and proactive problem-solving, including the “Stop, Think, Act” strategy.
“We are building the next generation of safety leaders,” said Lori Alhadeff, founder and CEO of MOSS. “Through our MOSS Clubs, students learn that they have the power to create safer, stronger school communities. They are the voice of change, and that’s what makes this movement so powerful.”
Allison Cohen, MOSS Club director, said the training reinforced how capable students are of leading. “Our MOSS Club members are truly inspiring,” Cohen said. “They bring creativity, compassion, and courage to everything they do. This training helps them see that leadership isn’t about titles, it’s about taking action and caring for others.”
One student president who attended the event said the program boosted their confidence.
“Being part of this training gave me new tools to help my school,” the student said. “I feel more confident speaking up, supporting friends who are struggling, and starting projects that make a real difference.”
The training was supported by the Florida Panthers Foundation, with additional thanks given to Eagles Haven for hosting and Lonnie Moore from Leader in Me for leading the workshop.
