The High school football season continued this week, highlighted by wins from a pair of teams.
Coral Glades, who recorded a 15-14 win on Monday against Hallandale High School, was back for their second game and defeated Marjory Stoneman Douglas. Joseph Kongon caught a touchdown pass while Jayden Snow had a 25-yard pick-six. James Girffs also made two field goals while the offense ran for nearly 150 yards behind four rushers.
The Jaguars improved to 4-3 and will play Boca Raton Community High School in their next game on Thursday, October 9, at 7 p.m. The Bobcats are 4-2 this year and won 40-3 in the lone meeting a year ago.
Coral Springs Charter beat Northeast High School 35-20 and is now 5-2 this season. The Panthers have won three straight and will face Tradition Prep on Friday, October 10, at 7 p.m. The Pirates are 2-5 this year, with their victories coming against Glades Day and Legacy High School. These teams last met in 2023, with the Panthers winning 53-21.
Coral Springs High School lost to Cypress Bay High School and is now 0-6 this season. They scored their only points on a field goal and will face a tough test in their next game against Monarch High School on Thursday, October 3, at 7 p.m. The Knights rank 59th in the state and are 3-3 this year, while winning last year’s game 52-0.
J.P. Taravella had the week off and is 1-5 this year, with their only win coming against Pompano Beach High School. They will face Cypress Bay High School on Friday, October 9, at 7 p.m. The Lightning has also won this year against Marjory Stoneman Douglas and Stranahan High School, with Cypress Bay also winning 65-0 a season ago.
