It’s our choice: do we wish to live on a polluted and depleted planet or a healthy, green, thriving planet?
New York artist Scott Schneider poses that question at his Toxic Nature Studio environmental art exhibition, Which Side Are You On?, which runs through July 20.
The exhibition features 32 photos from Schneider’s Toxic & Nature Galleries and 12 sculptural pieces from his 3D(isaster) gallery.
Juliana Forero, the museum’s Arts & Culture Programs manager, describes Schneider’s coming exhibit as “a celebration of the everyday things we see every day. The images in this exhibition call attention to the little things surrounding us.”
Forero said his photographs, which vary in size, are printed using sustainable materials such as bamboo paper. He added that his 3D(isaster) sculptures invite the viewer to question the amount of litter displayed in a container. She’s seen digitally the majority of the photos that will be displayed at the exhibit and has also seen a couple of prints on bamboo paper to examine their quality.
The artist says he only uses photographic images taken from his old iPhone camera to make us aware of the ongoing threat to our environment. “It’s basically a concept,” Schneider says. “The main thing is let’s take care of our planet.”
