The woman accused of murdering her husband in Coral Springs Saturday said she shot him over his infidelity and being “at her wits’ end with his lies and deceit,” according to court records.
In a videotaped confession at Coral Springs Police headquarters, Denise Nicole Malcolm, 45, told detectives Rohan Noel Malcolm, 52, had been unfaithful to her the past two years, leading to frequent arguments and their sleeping in separate bedrooms, states an arrest affidavit made public Thursday.
The couple’s dispute came to a head Saturday night when they returned home from shopping for a planned Labor Day barbecue, and Rohan Malcolm unexpectedly announced he was leaving to go to Port St. Lucie with his friends, the affidavit states.
According to the records, Denise Malcolm believed her husband was lying and was actually going to see his mistress. This issue led to a heated argument between the couple at 10501 NW 43rd St. that lasted as long as an hour, she said.
In a rage, Malcolm went to her bedroom closet, grabbed a handgun, loaded a round into the chamber, and shot her husband multiple times, she allegedly told detectives.
Malcolm said she was also contemplating shooting herself until her wounded husband, lying on the bedroom floor, “said something to her that made her stop her thoughts of suicide and shoot him for a final time,” the arrest affidavit states.
Police received a 911 shortly after 6:30 p.m. from one of the Malcolms’ children reporting the shooting. They arrived a short time later and took Denise Malcolm into custody.
She was charged with premeditated murder and was being held without bond Tuesday at the Paul Rein Detention Facility in Pompano Beach.
