The Northwest Regional Library in Coral Springs is set to launch its “Summer at Your Library” series with a family-friendly festival.
The 19th Annual Children’s BookFest, scheduled for Saturday, June 1, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., promises a day packed with music, dancing, and storytelling.
Library Events:
Kickoff to Summer Fun: Families can register for the 2024 summer reading challenge, win prizes, and collect a free book while supplies last.
Author Alley: Features local authors and special guest Juana Martinez-Neal, an award-winning author and illustrator known for “Alma and How She Got Her Name” and “Fry Bread: A Native American Family Story.” Her artwork is showcased at BCL library locations this summer.
Festival Fun: Activities include face painting, VR experiences, and performances by local groups such as Coral Springs Charter School, the Double Dutch Over 40 Club, and Broward Center Spotlights. Entertainers like Catalina the Clown and Marci Poppins, along with Mocko Jumbie Stilt Dancers, will be present.
Community Involvement: The event features crafts by the Coral Springs Craft Guild and the Garden Club of Coral Springs and performances by Creative Stage Productions and other local artists.
Cultural Experiences: Guests can enjoy Capoeira demonstrations, Bharata Natyam dance by Nritya Surabhi School of Dance, clogging by South Florida Cloggers, Andean music by Paco Moreno, Caribbean rhythms by On the Go Music, and a theatrical performance of “Cinderella: A Fractured Fairy Tale” by Fantasy Theatre Factory.
The Children’s BookFest is made possible through partnerships with community organizations and funding from The Broward Public Library Foundation, Friends of the Northwest Regional Library, and The Stephanie Rubin Memorial Fund.
