Park Springs Elementary School in Coral Springs held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of its renovated music and art rooms.
The school’s fourth and fifth-grade chorus sang enthusiastically for the opening. Broward County Public Schools superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn, School Board member Lori Alhadeff, and local officials attended the ceremony on Thursday.
The music room has a new floor, furniture and ceiling. The art room has an updated ceiling, new storage shelving, a new art sink, and a fresh floor finish. Campus-wide renovations include re-roofing, a new fire alarm voice evacuation system, and fire sprinkler replacement.
According to Principal Denise Hanson, Broward Schools spent more than $9 million on the renovation, and the money came from the SMART bond program.

“The Arts are so important to our students, and many are passionate about music. These renovations mean we now have a better environment to offer art and music,” said Hanson.
Music teacher David Levitan said the new music room will inspire the students. “The room is brighter, and the new floor looks nice. Our students love music, and this will help motivate them,” he said.
Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn added the new rooms would provide a modern environment for students to learn music and art.
Nancy Kenney, a parent, believes in the Park Springs music program. Her daughter Riley sang in the chorus during the celebration, and her two older daughters also participated in the program. “This school has an amazing music program,” she said.
