The Broward County School Board has invited Mayor Scott Brook to attend two public hearings on school boundaries for the 2023/24 school year.
The first hearing will take place on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Coral Springs High School, while the second hearing will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at J.P. Taravella High School.
The proposed boundary changes were based on community input, online commenting, and School Board input. The changes are intended to relieve overcrowding at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, with a phase-in boundary change to Coral Glades High School.
All students living within the area south of Wiles Road, west of University Drive, north of Royal Palm Boulevard, and east of Coral Springs Drive, who attended Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in the 2022/23 school year, will continue to be assigned to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School through the 12th-grade.
Any high school student living within this area not attending Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in the 2022/23 school year will be assigned to Coral Glades High School for the 2023/24 school year and all subsequent years after that.
All other school attendance areas in the district will remain the same in the 2023/24 school year as they were in the 2022/23 school year. The Broward County School Board welcomes ideas and input from all community members.
The final 2023/24 Interim Superintendent school boundary recommendations can be viewed from the boundary process timeline at the Demographics & Enrollment Planning Department at browardschools.com/bp.
All residents of Coral Springs are invited to attend the two public hearings on school boundaries.
