Surveillance video captured in the Coral Springs burglary.

A suspect was recently identified and arrested in connection with the recent late-night smash-and-grab burglary of Mr. Pool Service.
As Coral Springs Talk first reported last week, on March 25, Coral Springs Police responded to Mr. Pool Service, located at 10665 West Atlantic Boulevard, after an employee reported a shattered front window and missing items.
The surveillance footage, a cellphone left at the scene, and blood samples discovered on the smashed window were crucial in helping CSPD quickly solve the case.
According to the report, officers shared the store’s surveillance video with multiple agencies. A Fort Lauderdale detective positively identified the suspect, later identified as Dewontres Mccray, 39, of Fort Lauderdale, as the person captured on the video.
As the investigation continued, Mccray was arrested and taken into custody for further questioning.
The arrest report details surveillance footage showing Mccray entering Mr. Pool at approximately 11:30 p.m. on March 24. Once inside, he’s seen walking around the business, picking up various items, and using a handcart to collect them. He exited the business through the shattered window, taking the stolen property.
The report shows an inventory of the stolen items, including two Ichlor 30K salt cell systems, a FloPro Pump, a TEFC Superflo Pump, a Pool Intellibrite 5G LED Light, and a handcart. The total value of the stolen items and window repair was estimated to be $9,104.
“We’re so happy with how quickly officers and detectives got on this investigation and solved the crime,” Mr. Pool Service owners tell Coral Springs Talk.
“This is a career thief that hit multiple businesses. CSPD did a great job of working so quickly, but the system that allows this man to continue to walk the streets after years of crimes just sucks.”
In the investigation, officers discovered a cellular phone and possible blood on the curtain covering the shattered window and blood on a box inside the store.
The evidence was collected and analyzed, further supporting the identification of Mccray as the suspect.
Mccray’s arrest ended a crime spree that spanned many months and impacted multiple businesses across Broward County. In total, Mccray received 17 changes, including multiple of the felony grand theft variety, after a broader investigation linked Mccray to robberies in Coconut Creek and Fort Lauderdale, in addition to his smash-and-grab robbery of Mr. Pool.
Mccray is currently being held at the BSO Main Jail and has been charged with burglary and theft. He declined to speak with officers during contact attempts.
