On March 31, the J.P. Taravella track and field team held its annual senior night, honoring athletes—many of whom have spent four years participating in demanding workouts and competitions.
As part of the celebration, parents and friends of the seniors walked with them for a short distance while the students’ accomplishments and future goals were announced, highlighting each athlete’s unique journey.
For Meital Pavolotzky, the goal is to join the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). To prepare, she has competed in the 800-meter, mile, and two-mile run and has enjoyed being on the Taravella track team. In addition to athletics, one of her favorite subjects at school is culinary arts.
Pavolotzky has spent time in Israel and loves the country. Building on this connection, she plans to join the IDF in September and will serve for 2 years.
“I am looking forward to serving in the IDF and living in Israel,” she said.
