Temple Beth Orr’s Religious School in Coral Springs is earning high praise from parents and students for its exceptional educational experience.

With a recently updated curriculum spanning Kindergarten through 7th grade and introducing a new VPK class, the Temple Beth Orr, located at 2151 Riverside Dr, Coral Springs, has expanded significantly, providing a robust foundation in Jewish education.

The program, designed to accommodate the busy schedules of modern families, takes place on Sunday mornings, avoiding conflicts with mid-week activities and parental commitments.

This thoughtful approach has resonated well with the community, as students engage in a wide range of enriching activities such as Arts & Crafts, Israeli Dance, Prayers, Songs, Hebrew lessons, Holiday festivities, and more.

Phyllis Lasky, the Religious School Director, expressed her satisfaction in seeing the students’ joy. She noted that happy students create a positive atmosphere that extends to their families, fostering a harmonious environment throughout the school.

Parents of students at Temple Beth Orr’s Religious School have shared their experiences, reflecting the positive impact the school has had on their children’s development.

Carli Suarez, whose son has been attending the school for three years, remarked on the growth she has seen in her child.

“The religious school under Phyllis’ direction has become exponentially more valuable as well as fun! The kids learn about Judaism through many engaging ways. We’ve seen great growth and development from our son. So happy to see it all come together at his Bar Mitzvah!”

Alex Samsky, a parent of a young family with children aged 4 and 2, spoke highly of the welcoming atmosphere at Temple Beth Orr.

“From the moment we walked through the doors, we have felt welcome and included, which has been incredibly heartwarming.” Samsky appreciated the involvement of children in the services, noting, “What has truly made the services special for us is when our children can be involved.”

Samsky’s eldest son attends the Sunday program and has found it engaging and enjoyable.

“The small class sizes (about 8-10 kids) allow for focused attention on prayers, Jewish history, and Hebrew instruction. We also appreciate the weekly themes and how parents are encouraged to get involved, which keeps our son engaged and excited to attend each week.”

Another parent, Stephanie Birkholz, described Temple Beth Orr as a home for her family, emphasizing the continuity from the ECC preschool to the religious school.

“The rabbi has a table set up every Sunday morning, greeting the children as they arrive for Hebrew school. With Jewish music playing in the background, she invites the kids to participate in a fun welcome activity as they are walking into the school. She is hands-on and knows her congregation.”

Birkholz also highlighted the enthusiasm of the staff. “The director is fun-loving and enthusiastic. She encourages family involvement and learning through play, experiences, and activities. The cantor sings with passion and purpose. He encourages the children to participate in choir to uplift the congregation and the community with songs and prayers.”

With its strong curriculum, dedicated staff, and a focus on creating a welcoming environment, Temple Beth Orr’s Religious School continues to significantly impact its students and their families — and remains a cherished part of the Coral Springs community.
