After being named the State Coach of the Year in July, Marjory Stoneman Douglas baseball’s Todd-Fitz Gerald received one more important award: 2021 National Head Coach of the Year after the Eagles’ incredible baseball season.
Coach Fitz-Gerald previously won the award in 2016 and 2018. Last spring, MSD won their second State Championship in six years before winning the National Championship, finishing the season 28-2.
“It’s a great honor, and I’m really appreciative, but once again, it is all about the players,” said Coach Fitz-Gerald. “I couldn’t do it without them as well as my coaching staff and administration for their unwilling support.”
Despite losing a talented class at graduation, many key starters return and hope to compete again in another Championship in 2022.
