Jagur Schlueter thrives on e-sports competition.
Serving as captain of the Coral Springs High School e-sports team, Jagur Schlueter has led his squad to impressive victories. In the fall, the Colts went 6-0 in the United States Academic E-Sports League for Rocket League, facing teams from around the state.
This spring, the Colts continued their dominance, posting another 6-0 record against Broward County Public Schools teams. Now, they are preparing for a district championship competition at Dave & Buster’s in Hollywood on May 2. Jerseys featuring original designs by team members have recently arrived to celebrate their achievements.
Rocket League, an e-sports game played on computers, features three-on-three matches where players control car-like vehicles to score goals, resembling soccer in both offense and defense. Sometimes, teammates compete together in a Coral Springs High room; other times, they play from home. Schlueter notes that strong teamwork is essential, even when the athletes aren’t in the same place.
“I believe we have won our games because we communicate well together and play as a team. I have noticed that many of the teams we have played against don’t work as well together,” said Schlueter.
Coach Jason Freedman has been very impressed with the Colts’ Rocket League team’s performance over the past several years. The team earned a belt like those awarded to championship boxers, showing the Colts won Rocket League in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
“I think we will do well at the district championship. Our team works well together and has experienced success,” said Freedman.
