Locals will soon get the chance to take a trip around the world—without leaving Coral Springs.
The city is hosting Worldfest, a celebration of the diverse cultural makeup of Coral Springs and surrounding communities, on Sunday, March 6, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The free event, held on the City Hall Lawn at 9500 W. Sample Rd., will include live music, dance performances, games, and more.
Among the festival highlights: a series of cooking demonstrations where guests will be encouraged to sample cuisines from across the globe.
Headlining the event will be popular local Colombian band Los Mompirris and Brazilian dance group Paulo Gualano, organizers said.
Other acts include Capo Capoeira Martial Arts and Acrobatics; Pure Dynamics Dance; Timanati Mexican Folk Dance; the Coral Springs Chinese Cultural Association; Harmonic Motion Dance; Mariachi Voces de America; Champa Chameli Bollywood Dance; vocalist Lily Bradford; and Colombian entertainers Chiva Bus.
“Coral Springs, as a community, is a rainbow tapestry of diverse cultures and heritages,” said Coral Springs Commissioner Joy Carter. “The Multi-Cultural Committee and city staff do a tremendous job planning an event that celebrated our uniqueness and showcases the best of our city’s diversity.”
The event will also feature a “Kids World” section for children of all ages to enjoy art activities and crafts celebrating various cultures.
