After Swearing-in, Parkland’s New Mayor and Commissioners Get to Work

Parkland’s new mayor and commissioners took their oaths of office and soon got to work discussing classroom additions for one school, modulars for another and the selection of a Vice and Deputy Vice Mayor.

Judge Ari Porth administered the oath of office to the City’s newly-elected Mayor, former Commissioner Christine Hunschofsky and recently elected Commissioners Bob Mayersohn and Grace Solomon. Judge Louis Schiff administered the oath of office to new Commissioner Ken Cutler.

Commissioner Stacy Kagan was selected by the Commission as the new Vice Mayor and Commissioner Ken Cutler will serve as Deputy Vice Mayor.

With the ceremonial formalities completed, the new Commission proclaimed November 17, 2016 as Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day in Parkland and immediately began tackling Parkland’s big issues including a 24-classroom addition at Riverglades Elementary school, modular classrooms for Heron Heights and Park Trails Elementary schools as well as a resolution embracing the Broward Reads literacy partnership.

The new Commission also bid farewell to departing Commissioner of Parkland’s third district David Rosenof. Rosenof leaves the Commission after serving two terms and has reached his term limit.
