A Marjory Stoneman Douglas student has just been awarded a scholarship by the Coral Springs Festival of the Arts.
Megan Martin won the 2019 Paul Brite Art Scholarship and will be awarded $1,500 to attend Florida Atlantic University. Currently a high school senior, Martin has been taking art classes for five years and recently has begun working with watercolor as a primary medium.
Though mostly realistic, her artwork floats into other realms as she works to develop her style and technical skills. Using personal experiences and memories, Martin works to reflect a part of herself in everything she does.
Martin’s love of the Arts also includes art history courses, visiting art museums and reading books on her favorite artists.
“The Arts have not only shaped my past, but they will shape my future as I continue to grow and fine-tune my skills and knowledge,” she said.
Martin has proudly exhibited her work in the All-Stars Exhibit for the past two years and recently received a 2019 Scholastic Arts and Writing Gold Key for her work “Licking Your Wounds”.
