Coral Springs High School Softball Win First Game of Season

The Coral Springs High School softball team had a difficult start to the season but picked up their first win following their 13-3 win over Stranahan High School.

The Colts led by seven runs heading into the fifth inning, that is, until they scored three in the bottom half to reach the ten-run mercy rule on an RBI double from Sophia Cleter.

Offensively, Aaliya Castro drove in a team-high four runs, including both a double and a triple. Cleter was one of three batters to record two doubles, along with Katherine Cova and Kristen Russo. Castro drove in three runs as the team scored five runs in both the first and fourth inning.

Katherine Pham made the start for the Colts and pitched five innings allowing three runs, but struck out 11 batters.

The Colts nearly had their first win of the season on February 27 but allowed seven runs in the final two innings before falling 8-7 against Deerfield Beach High School.

Up next, Coral Springs High School will host Monarch on Thursday, March 5, at 4 p.m.
