Over a dozen vehicle burglaries have taken place in several Coral Springs neighborhoods, and it’s no coincidence these particular types of crimes have increased now that schools are closed, according to Deputy Chief Brad McKeone.
In the Kensington and Wyndham Lakes communities, Coral Springs Police have experienced dozens of burglary conveyance to vehicles —-none with forced entry.
One reported vehicle was stolen between April 6 and 7 from the 5000 block of NW 107th Ave.
McKeone said it was left unlocked, and the keys were left inside. The vehicle was recovered a short time later in the area of 3100 Coral Ridge Drive.
No arrests have been made at this time.
He advises residents that these are crimes of opportunity, and to make sure their car doors are locked, key fobs are removed, and valuables are not left inside. If you see something or get an alert on your home surveillance system, contact Coral Springs Police immediately.
