A wanted couple was arrested in Coral Springs after investigators accused them of embezzling more than $180,000 from a construction company over several years.
According to Hallandale Police Department records, Oral Ollivierre, 39, and Sandra Permaul, 41, of Hallandale Beach, were each charged with first-degree grand theft stemming from a lengthy investigation into their roles in embezzling funds from a Hallandale Beach construction company.
The report shows that the owner reported discovering significant missing funds within the business, prompting an investigation.
The owner told detectives he hired Permaul in approximately 2017, and over time she was promoted to office manager, with responsibility for writing checks, paying employees and vendors, and managing the company's finances.
Detectives said the owner later discovered Permaul had allegedly exploited that position of trust by writing unauthorized company checks to herself and withdrawing cash from business accounts without permission.
Bank records obtained through subpoenas allegedly revealed that Permaul wrote herself approximately $64,700 in checks from one company account and another $42,052 from a second account. Investigators also determined she withdrew roughly $113,700 in cash from company accounts, according to the affidavit.
The investigation also identified Ollivierre as a co-defendant who received $21,490 in company checks even though the victim told investigators he had never been employed by the construction company. Detectives also allege company funds were used to pay about $736 toward Ollivierre's personal Florida Power & Light utility bills.
The business owner told investigators he never authorized Ollivierre to receive company funds, possess company checks, or make financial decisions on the company's behalf.
Ollivierre and Permaul were both arrested at a residence in Coral Springs, located near the 5600 block of Riverside Drive, and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
