A Coral Springs woman is facing a host of criminal charges after allegedly sending violent and racist text messages, including a threat to bomb the Broward County Courthouse while pretending to be a man she met on a dating app, court records show.
Vanessa Restrepo, 25, of Coral Ridge Drive, was so convincing in her text impersonations of the 23-year-old man, she convinced authorities to charge him criminally and issue two restraining orders against him for stalking, according to an arrest affidavit filed by the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Restrepo, who authorities said has a history of similar behavior targeting men, reported the threats to authorities as if the man himself had written them, despite her concocting them from thin air, authorities said.
“Good luck explaining yourself to the stupid judge…,” Restrepo wrote to herself in one text, pretending to be the man. “Now tell the judge to arrest me b—h.”
Restrepo went on to call the judge a “c–t,” said she looked like “aunt Jemina,” and was “so black I can see her white…teeth,” according to the affidavit.
The texts also threatened to kill Restrepo and harm her family and to “stalk the judge and bomb the courthouse,” according to BSO.
Other messages claimed the man was following Restrepo and her roommate as they drove to the courthouse and vowed to bomb “you hoes” and the Broward Sheriff’s Office, according to court records.
Restrepo even sent fake, threatening messages to her roommate, investigators said. The women shared the messages with law enforcement, who filed stalking charges and restraining orders against the man.
Later, when investigators examined the history of the phone numbers and IP addresses used to send the messages, they discovered Restrepo herself had sent them, records show.
The authorities said all charges against the man were based on fictitious evidence and were to be dropped by prosecutors.
According to BSO, Restrepo admitted the messages were fabricated and “that her intent was to get [the man] kicked out of school because she wanted him to have a criminal record,” her arrest affidavit states.
She was arrested on Sept. 27 in Tamarac and charged with aggravated stalking, writing threats to kill, falsely reporting a bomb, perjury, fabricating evidence, and other crimes.
She was being held on $127,400 bond Wednesday at the North Broward Bureau Jail, records show.
