Angelica Macarulay of Coral Springs High School is on the way to the State Championship in cross country for the first time in her career.
While the Colts finished in tenth place out of 16 teams, Macarulay was one of the top three runners to finish from teams that did not qualify.
Macarulay finished 16th with a time of 22:24.16, leading CSHS to a fifth-place finish. Head Coach Brantley Barr hopes to see her improve to under 22 minutes at States.
Lea Ramnarace had the second-best time for the Colts and finished a little more than a second before Briana Williams. Josefine Majdoch, Julia Fendell, Faith Cunningham, and Arianna Negron.
Next, Macarulay will run in states at the Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee on Friday, November 12, which then hosts the NCAA Division I tournament a week later.
