A musical that explores virtually every profession a person can do comes to J.P. Taravella.
Featuring songs composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the play comes from Stud Terkel’s 1970s bestselling book retaining the honesty and universality of how people feel about what they do for a living.
The head of Taravella’s drama department and director, Lori Sessions, said she thinks this musical is perfect for post-pandemic times.
“We want the audience to appreciate the people who work in jobs that help keep our country going, especially during the past two years,” said Sessions, adding ‘Working’ allows students to be more empathetic.
The cast of ‘Working’ depicts a day in the life of a waitress, fireman, housewife, teacher, and many others.
The music was composed by Stephen Schwartz and librettist Nina Faso, along with Craig Carnelia, Micki Grant, James Taylor, and Mary Rodgers.
Tickets are available online for $8 for students and $12 for adults. Performances are set for Wednesday, February 3, and again on February 4, at 7 p.m.
A final matinee performance is set for Friday, February 5, at 1 p.m. J.P. Taravella is located at 10600 Riverside Drive.
