A Coral Springs woman has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting her husband, court records show.
Amber Williams, 39, of 10070 NW 36th St., had been arguing with her spouse after returning with him from a grocery store on Nov. 26, the records show. She accused him of changing the password on his cell phone, according to an arrest affidavit.
As the husband tried to grab some belongings from a bedroom closet and leave for the night, Williams shot him multiple times in both legs—in front of the couple’s children, the kids told Coral Springs Police, according to the affidavit.
After her arrest, Williams told investigators she was the victim of domestic battery at the hands of her husband, who she feared would shoot her and the children after their argument, records show.
In fear, she retrieved his gun from the bedroom closet and closed the bedroom door, she told police.
When he entered the bedroom, she opened fire and fired more rounds when he lunged at her, she said.
The wounded man’s name was redacted from court records.
Williams was being held without bond Thursday at the Paul Rein Detention Facility in Pompano Beach.
