A man was arrested in Pennsylvania Sunday and charged in the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old homeless man in Coral Springs, authorities said.
Christian Isaiah Davis, 24, was taken into custody at his home in Uniontown, Pa., before confessing to the July 2 killing of Kinolee Gardner near Gardner’s homeless encampment on Wiles Road, Coral Springs Police said Tuesday.
Davis is charged with first-degree murder, according to court records.
Gardner was found on the sidewalk in front of 10950 Wiles Road around 9:30 a.m., dead from multiple gunshot wounds, police said.
Detectives launched their investigation and soon identified Davis as their suspect.
Following a “meticulous analysis” of evidence collected in the case, detectives believed Davis was likely staying somewhere in Uniontown, Coral Springs Police said in a press release.
On Sunday, detectives worked with Pennsylvania State Police to find and arrest Davis at his home. Davis provided a statement confessing to the homicide, police said.
The accused killer was taken to the Fayette County Jail in Pennsylvania, where he is awaiting extradition to Broward County.
Police have not announced a motive for the killing. The department said they are not seeking any other suspects.
