St. Mary Magdalene Preschool is now home to a Little Free Library, thanks to the hard work and thoughtfulness of Michael Marhefka, a member of the Eagle Scouts Troop 220.
St.Mary Magdalene school representatives tell Coral Springs Talk that Marhefka and his Eagle Scouts identified the preschool as an ideal Little Free Library location and took charge of every installation step, from gathering materials and construction to a successful book drive that filled the library with primary-grade books.
Situated along the preschool’s sidewalk — located at 1400 Riverside Drive — the newest Little Free Library is accessible to anyone walking by, including children from neighboring schools like Ramblewood Elementary.
St. Mary Magdalene Preschool Director Nicole Sutton tells Coral Springs Talk the preschool is excited about the addition of the Little Free Library.
“We are thrilled that the Eagle Scouts have chosen St. Mary Magdalene Preschool as a location for a new Little Free Library.”
Sutton added that promoting reading – not just for the school but for all children- is essential.
“This wonderful resource will benefit not just the children at our preschool but also the children in our community; the concept of ‘take a book, share a book’ fosters a love for reading and provides access to free books for children of all ages. We’re excited to see how this Little Free Library will encourage the children’s passion for learning and imagination.”
