Coral Springs was well represented in the State Championship this past weekend, the season’s final event.
Coral Springs High School placed 31st in the state and had three reach the podium. J’Vier Romeus came in fourth place. He and Shai Keery, who placed seventh, had previously won a district championship earlier this year. Abigail Moyer shined for the girls team and came in sixth after victories at Districts and Regionals.
Preston Lindsay of Coral Springs Charter finished fifth in the state, as the team came in 35th. He was the Panthers’ lone state qualifier and previously finished second in the District and third at Regionals.
Lindsay finished his high school career with 181 victories and is a two-time state placer, having improved from placing eighth last year.
“I am so proud of Preston, and I am so proud to have been his coach these last four years,” Head Coach Eric Perez said. “He will definitely be missed.”
Jacob Rosen was the lone state qualifier for J.P. Taravella but did not place. He did, however, win his second match in the consolidation bracket.
