{Basser’s Fine Wine & Craft Beer}
Marking its 6th year, Basser’s Annual Food and Wine Festival returns with 175 wines, 15 local restaurants, live music, craft beer, and more at the Heron Bay Marriott.
Set for Sunday, August 23, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., this year’s Basser’s Food and Wine Festival will take place inside the Grand Ballroom at the Heron Bay Marriott, located at 11775 Heron Bay Boulevard. Attendees must be at least 21 years old.
According to owner Emily Basser, the festival has grown steadily since its debut, thanks to a simple formula:
“This is the sixth annual Food and Wine Festival,” Basser tells Coral Springs Talk, adding. “We bring the best wines in the world to the show and pair them with the best local restaurants in the area.”
Festival organizers say guests can expect the most expansive wine selection in the event’s history.
“This year we will feature over 175 wines from around the world, including more than 20 over $100 per bottle, all included in the ticket price,” Basser said.
Among the bottles Basser said they are particularly excited to showcase are Continuum, Darioush, Soul of The Lion, Beringer Private Reserve, Merry Edwards, Joseph Phelps, Aperture, and many more small-production wines.
The culinary side of the festival will feature local favorites including Eddie and Vinnie, Livello, A Flair for Fudge, All Star Pizza, Bravo Peruvian, The Cook and The Cork, Ember and Vine, Ethos Greek Bistro, JP Delights, Simmis Bakehouse, Tiff Bakes Minis, and the Wispy Whisk.
Unlike some large-scale food and wine events, organizers say maintaining an intimate atmosphere remains a priority.
“You get amazing wines, great food, live music and no huge crowds,” Basser said. “We limit the number of people so that you can get one-on-one time with the vendors.” Tickets are limited to 600 guests to allow for 1-on-1 experiences with the winemakers and maintain the high-end, boutique feel of the festival.
For newcomers who may feel intimidated by wine culture, she emphasized that the event is designed to be approachable and enjoyable for all experience levels.
“The festival has no pretense,” Basser said. “If you have never attended a Food and Wine Festival or you’ve been to many, you will enjoy it all the same. We make it casual and fun first.”
Looking ahead, Basser said she hopes the festival continues to grow into a marquee South Florida event while maintaining its local roots.
“Eventually, we would like this to be a full weekend of events and winemaker tastings.”
