Developers in Coral Springs may have more opportunities to build residential properties and taller buildings.
During the August 19 meeting, the commission passed on first reading an ordinance to rezone approximately 58 downtown acres of various properties within the Coral Springs Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA).
This includes an activity center located west of Coral Hills Drive and south of Northwest 31st Court, along with other properties, that will be rezoned from various categories to a downtown mixed-use zoning district. According to city information, this will allow more mixed-use development.
This updated code allows for townhomes, multiplexes, large commercial mixed-use, and mid-rise structures. Mid-rise lots are permitted up to eight stories, while properties adjacent to single-family neighborhoods are restricted to five stories or less.
The second reading is set for September 2, 2026, according to city information.
