At last Wednesday’s City Commission meeting, Coral Springs firefighters presented cancer survivor Lisa Boccard with a donation to the Breast Cancer Fund.
The Coral Springs Fire Department held their annual dinner in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, where according to Fire Chief Frank Babinec, they cooked up 120 pounds of meatballs and 160 pounds of raw pasta serving 786 dinners to the public.
On November 5, firefighters presented Lisa Boccard with a check for $4,000 from two years proceeds from the event as well as an additional check for $4,000 to the American Cancer Society.
The Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund was founded in 2003 by Vincent and Terry Boccard in support of Vincent’s sister Lisa and her fight with breast cancer. The mission is to provide funding for care that may otherwise be unattainable, for the women in our community to obtain screening mammograms and breast treatments if necessary.
“On behalf of the Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund, I personally want to thank the Coral Springs Professional Firefighters Benevolent Association and everyone in the community, who attended and supported Pinktober Spaghetti Dinner,” said Lisa Boccard. Â “Coral Springs is truly a City committed to supporting those in need.”
