As the season progresses, the J. P. Taravella girls’ track and field team continues to perform exceptionally. On March 31, the Trojans took the opportunity to honor their seniors during a local meet.
At the Broward County Athletic Association (BCAA) meet, held on March 27 at Dillard High School, the Trojans placed third overall out of approximately 30 teams.
Patricia Costa was the county champion in the 100-meter hurdles. Samira Belizaire earned second place in the triple jump, and Camile Camper took second place in the javelin.
The girls’ 4X100 relay team raced to a second-place finish with a time of 48.5 seconds, featuring Timya Johnson, Rayelle Languedoc, Tranya Standley, and Patricia Costa.
In the 4×400 relay, the girls placed second with a school record time of 3.55. The team consisted of Samira Belizaire, Olivia Noel, Timya Johnson, and Patricia Costa.
With a time of 9:58, the 4X800 girls’ team set a school record and finished third. Samira Belizaire, Olivia Noel, Caileen Canales, and Valentina Castillo made up the team.
The Taravella boys’ team finished ninth as a team. Scardy Fils earned second place in the 1600 meters, Joshua Reneau earned fifth place in the 400 hurdles, and JahRee Pierre finished eighth in the 800 hurdles.
Posting a school record of 42.4, the boys’ 4×100 relay team earned fifth place. Jamaal Elliott, Kevin McKinney, Jaden Barclay, and Brandon Sanders made up the team.
The boys’ 4×400 relay team finished seventh, recording a 3.23. Travis Dillon, Scardy Fils, JahRee Pierre, and Joshua Reneau contributed to this result.

“We had some good performances at the county meet, and we are working hard to improve,” said coach Dawn Spann.
The Coral Springs High School track and field team has achieved some success. In the 800-meter run, Olivia Higgins earned first place, while Samanta Bandres Chourio took first in the 400-meter hurdles. The girls’ 4X400 team finished third, with Samanta Bandres, Lydia Gentilehomme, Destinee Cole, and Olivia Higgins as runners.
Success at the BCAA meet marked a major achievement for the Coral Springs Charter team. While Lily Ward set a school record in the 400-meter run, Gianna Barnes set one in the 200 meters. Coach Brantley Barr added that the 4×800 and 4×400 girls’ teams also performed well.
